An individual structure can be stored and adapted in the hierarchy editor. The structure stored there is displayed in the GridVis Cloud as a side navigation bar and serves as a central control element for automatic filtering of the displayed data.

The hierarchy editor can be opened by clicking the corresponding button in the Settings.

Basic principle of the hierarchy

The hierarchy is built according to the hierarchical distribution of the consumption media. A new node serves as a distributor or logical separation.

The preparation of the measurement data, which are visualized on the dashboard and the analysis tab, is based on the stored structure and the correspondingly assigned data points (measurement devices). Formatting is done according to the tree structure with inheritance, or summation, to the next higher level.

The created hierarchy nodes are adopted as predefined filters in the sidebar of the dashboard and on the analysis tab. Selecting a hierarchy node in this sidebar automatically filters the displayed consumption data and shows the consumption at that hierarchy node, either as measured directly by a meter or calculated by the application as a hierarchy total.

Hierarchy total

For a hierarchy node that has further subnodes, a total of the consumptions from the subordinate nodes is calculated in the GridVis Cloud. If a distribution point does not have its own measurement device, it can still be created as a node in the hierarchy.

If subnodes are created for such a node and data points are assigned to these subnodes, the corresponding consumption data are also displayed in the visualizations on the Dashboard and on the Analysis tab. These data are calculated for each medium by determining and displaying the total of the consumption values of the subnodes.

Overwrite hierarchy total / higher-level measurement device

For a parent node (or top node) to which a data point is assigned, the hierarchy total is overwritten by the measured values of the assigned data point.

The consumption data and measured values of the assigned data point are displayed for this parent node in the visualizations on the Dashboard and the Analysis tab.
