General information
ProData 2 is a data logger that serves as the basis for your energy management. The device is suitable for fixed installation on a DIN rail in low-voltage systems.
The device logs and saves meter values and process data. These data are used to evaluate energy consumption and operating hours. Furthermore, this also makes it possible to monitor switching states and faults in buildings and plants.
To configure the parameters for all ProData 2 device functions requires a PC with GridVis installed. Data is retrieved and changed via the Modbus protocol using the Modbus address list. You can find the Modbus address list at www.janitza.de. Information on the connection variants and correct installation can be found in the user manual for the device. You can download the user manual at www.janitza.de.
Device configuration in GridVis Desktop
This section explains how to configure ProData 2 correctly so it can then be used in the GridVis Cloud. ProData 2 must be configured in GridVis Desktop. To use ProData 2 successfully in the GridVis Cloud, you must set up the Input/output configuration, the Values and the Recording configuration.
Input/output configuration
The ProData 2 has 15 digital inputs that are divided into three groups of 5 inputs each with a common ground. A tariff selection can be assigned to each digital input, whereby only the highest activated tariff runs.
- Open the ProData 2 that you want to configure and click the Configuration button.
- Select the Input/output configuration menu item.
- Select the Digital input that you want to configure.
- Select the Value type. Please note that for a configuration for the GridVis Cloud, all energy values are specified in watt hours (Wh). Where possible, cubic meters (m³) are used for volumes. The following values are supported in the GridVis Cloud for this purpose:
- Electrical energy in Wh
- Natural gas in m³
- Water consumption in m³
- Heat quantity in Wh
- Compressed air in m³
- Oil in l
- Cooling water consumption in m³
- Hot water consumption in m³
- Enter the Pulse valency for the value type. The pulse valency you select specifies which measured value or power value (e.g. energy) should correspond to one pulse.
Recording configuration
- Click the New button.
- Select the Sample radio button.
- Click the Add values button.
- Open the Digital input/output folder structure.
- Open the Work value S0 inputs folder structure.
- Open the folder for the tariff you want to record.
- Drag & drop the configured digital inputs into the value column on the left. You can select a maximum of 14 values.
- Once you have moved the required digital inputs, click the OK button.
- Enter 900 seconds as the value for the time base. This corresponds to 15 minutes.
Integrating ProData 2 into the GridVis Cloud
The Cloud Connector automatically searches for Janitza measurement devices in the network and connects to them. ProData 2 is currently not recognized automatically. Proceed as follows to add a ProData 2 manually:
- Open the Settings for the Cloud Connector.
- In the Devices section, click the Add device button.
- Under Device type, select ProData 2.
- Select the Connection type. You can connect the ProData 2 via Modbus TCP or Modbus RTU.
- If you select Modbus TCP
- Enter the IP address of your device
- Enter the device address of your device
- If you select Modbus RTU
- Select the interface for your device
- Enter the device address of your device
- Select the baud rate for your device
- Finally, click the Save button.
Make sure you assign the device to the correct Cloud Connector. This is the only way you can use the device in the cloud. The device can then be assigned to a node in the Hierarchy editor and be used as a Data point.
