Description - The "GridVis service" is a service that is stored in the system services of your operating system and runs in the system background without a user interface.
- The "GridVis service" (system service) runs analogously to your GridVis desktop installation via a system service on a remote server and communicates with the measurement devices.
- The installation of the GridVis service works from the GridVis® Standard edition.
- The system service permanently reads data from the measurement devices in the background without the GridVis desktop program interface being open.
- By installing the GridVis service (service installation), parallel use of your project by several clients is possible.
- Projects and measurement devices are configured via the GridVis desktop program interface.
- Then the device rights are transferred to the GridVis service.
- You configure the GridVis service via the web browser.
- Graphical and statistical evaluations continue to run via the GridVis desktop.

| - In the GridVis service (system service), you configure your settings for an "Email server" for the GridVis "Standard" and "Expert" editions. This is necessary, for example, for alarm notification by e-mail (see: in alarm management under "New alarm plan" and "Send an E-Mail").
- You can reach the "Email server" window in your GridVis edition "Standard" or "Expert" (platform "GridVis-WEB") under "Navigation" --> "Settings" --> "E-Mail" (tab "Email server").
- To configure the "Email server" in the GridVis service (service), ask your network administrator for the access data if necessary!
